Newly-Designed Osceola County Elementary School To Break Ground on May 31st

HARMONY, FL – Groundbreaking for the new Osceola County Elementary School "J", which is designed by SchenkelShultz Architecture, took place on Thursday, May 31, 2007, at 10:30 AM at 3300 School House Road in Harmony, Florida.

The two-story prototype school is being constructed with a cost and space efficient design, creating a comfortable environment for the students. The school is being built in an urban area; therefore SchenkelShultz designed Elementary School "J" to blend with the fabric of the community. Most students will be able to walk to the school, and the building will be used as a gathering place for local events. The 105,000 square-foot school will include natural day lighting to all classrooms, public accessible core facilities, and a design based on green principles, making it environmentally smart. Construction will begin by August 1, 2007, with completion expected in 2008.
